Discussion Room

A discussion site to invigorate academic issues. Participants are provided with resources such as documents, videos, press releases and others, to foster knowledge sharing.

The discussion rooms last for approximately 4-5 weeks and are accompanied by 3-4 invited experts that prepare the participants, and to establish a conceptual base and apart from series odf resources, generate discussion spaces to discuss proposed topics. A general topic is divided into 3-4 sub-topics and a guest speaker moderates the discussion. By the end, participants are asked to submit a reflection paper on discussed issues.

Participants: Up to 40 students and 2-3 guest speakers according to the different academic subjects

Case Study: during 2010 in Honduras UNDP Office wanted to create a virtual space to generate debate and exchange around the central theme of democracy, with the purpose of developing, prompting proposals and public policy agreements among young political leaders.

The Virtual School created a discussion room led by experts so that participants could express their opinions in a "neutral" environment about recuperating democracy after the coup d'état in Honduras in 2009.
